Just tell me you are not interested

As I said in a previous article, in early 2019 I was looking for a new job. And therefore, I sent my resume to companies that I found particularly interesting. I’ve also answered a few job offers. But more than often I never heard back of these companies.

These companies didn’t even care to send a short message to say they were not interested in my profile or that they had no open positions at the moment.

It’s not a hard thing to do. You can even have a template email that you copy and paste and send back to people. It takes about 30 seconds.

It’s the minimal courtesy to say you are not interested. Don’t forget that these people who wanted to work with you, could also be future stakeholders in a project or that they could have recommended you. Now, they see you just as the impolite assholes.

A little politeness doesn’t need much time but can avoid that in the future your company gets rejected in a pitch, or that your service offer is automatically seen as not suitable as it’s a potential new hire whom you didn’t answer that is in touch with you.
